Will Meta disconnect Facebook and Instagram in Europe?
According to Politico, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPE) has informed its counterparts on the continent that it intends to order the American group to stop transferring data from its European users to the United States.
If this decision were validated, Meta would have only two options on paper: either to reorganize its operations in depth so that European data remains on Community soil, or to close its services in the Union.
The Californian group had discussed this scenario in a stock market document published last February.
