Authorities in Italy announced today (Saturday) that the 11 climbers killed in the avalanche on Sunday in the Dolomites have been located.
Sergeant Carabinieri Gampitro Lago, who headed a team of forensic experts, said the identity of the last hiker had been determined and "no further findings."
The landslide occurred at the summit of Marmolada, which rises to a height of 3,000 meters and is the highest peak in the Dolomites in northern Italy in the Trento and Veneto regions.

Experts in the country believe that the disaster, which began with the disengagement of a glacier at the summit, was caused as a result of unconventional temperatures stemming from global warming.
The whole of Italy recorded an extreme heat wave this week, during which temperatures rose very rapidly.
