Eight people were killed in heavy rains and floods that swept Nuristan province, northeastern Afghanistan.
"Eight people from one family died when flash floods swept through some villages in Ama district in the province, in addition to causing material damage to many homes," Xinhua news agency quoted local authorities as saying today.
Heavy rains and floods over the past two days have killed about 12 people in southern and eastern Afghanistan.
