Mikhail Sheremet, a deputy in the Russian State Duma for Crimea, rejected Western allegations that Russia imposed a naval blockade on Ukraine, describing these allegations as "complete nonsense."
"All their statements are nonsense...there is no naval blockade of Ukraine...Ukrainian ships laden with grain can leave the ports along the specified routes, and the Russian side does not interfere in this," Sheremet was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.
He pointed out that "Western politicians are silent about the fact that the Ukrainian army prevented the departure of ships from the Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea coast," pointing out that at the request of the regime in Kyiv, the waters around the ports were mined, which posed a threat to the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.
