With his Fiat Multipla, GRIP presenter Matthias Malmedie has completely new experiences - among other things, he is laughed at behind the wheel.

Cologne – Whenever a top 10 list of the ugliest cars of all time appears on the internet, there are usually two cars included: the Pontiac Aztek (many know it from the cult series “Breaking Bad”) and the Fiat multipla.

The latter usually ranks far ahead because its design is completely out of the ordinary.

Almost everyone knows the front, which basically looks as if two vehicles had been combined into one - and not necessarily skillfully.

And YouTuber and GRIP presenter Matthias Malmedie (46) recently bought a Multipla just like this – now he has taken his first longer trip with the extravagant Italian van.

Matthias Malmedie: New experiences in the Fiat Multipla - "That has never happened to me"

TV expert Matthias Malmedie paid 2,250 euros including transport for the Fiat, as he reveals in his YouTube video (to be found below).

It wasn't that easy to find a copy: "Because there weren't any cool Multiplas," says the 46-year-old, who recently made fun of the Suzuki Ignis, which didn't go down well with all fans.

"This one isn't cool either, but at least it was for sale." When he takes a closer look at the Fiat with "double front" and three seats in the first row in a parking lot, the moderator keeps laughing: "Boy, boy – What kind of car is that?” He runs his finger over the curved rear side windows.

"Have you ever seen something like this?" asks Malmedie, slightly ironically.

"Amazing, right?"

Nevertheless, he is not dissatisfied with the Fiat.

“I have to be honest: the car is really satisfying for the first few meters,” says the GRIP moderator.

"He has a bit of trouble idling, we noticed in the first video - but I think we'll get that under control." The YouTuber is "really excited" about how the Multipla is on the road.

And: "When you turn right, you can see the sidewalk down there because the window goes down so far."

But the car has other positive effects: "I also have the feeling that people really have a disadvantage with one," says Malmedie.

"They let you do that."

But there are also situations that Malmedie, who mostly drives in expensive super sports cars like the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition and the McLaren 756LT or in luxury SUVs like the BMW X7, has hardly experienced before: "Look: He's got it all looked over pityingly, the colleague in the Toyota Hybrid.” But it gets even thicker.

A car from Holland overtakes him, the occupants laugh at Malmedie and his Fiat Multipla, pat themselves on the thighs - and even take photos.

"That's never happened to me," says Malmedie.

"How humiliating that is."

"Malmepla" and "Krümelmonster": YouTube community makes name suggestions for Malmedies Multipla

Nevertheless, Malmedie is considering making the Fiat his “daily driver”.

However, he soon had doubts.

“Daily Driver would be tough.

If I run onto the shoot with it...", says Malmedie.

But: “People would probably celebrate it too.” Now the YouTuber is still looking for a name for his vehicle – the YouTube community can provide the suggestions.

The first have already been received in the comments: "Malmepla" or "Cookie Monster" are among them.

The next multipla video is already fixed.

The Italian gets a thorough cleaning.

"It will probably take two days," says Malmedie.

"How can you let a car be so filthy?"
