Eichenau – The incumbent mayor Peter Münster (FDP) can remain in office for another six years.
He prevailed in the runoff with 63.81 percent over his competitor Markus Hausberger.
The municipal council of the Greens came to 36.19 percent.
Although it became apparent relatively quickly on the evening of the election that Münster would prevail, he remained cautious.
Even after three quarters of all votes had been counted, he fended off every attempt at congratulations: "Not everything has been counted, something can still change." But then he saw the re-election as confirmation of his work over the past six years.
He now wants to convince those who would not have chosen him.
party colleagues happy
For Münster's party friend and municipal councilor Ulrich Bode, the re-election is confirmation of a policy shaped by reason.
"Eichenauer have opted for stability," said Bode in a first statement.
The liberals in the municipality as well as in the district could be proud of that.
Competitor at least satisfied
Challenger Markus Hausberger seemed at least satisfied: "Forcing the incumbent into the runoff is a success." That hasn't been the case in the history of the place for a long time.
The result is definitely a good basis for the work in the municipal council and with a strong parliamentary group behind you.
CSU happy
For the CSU, Hans Hösch spoke of a "more than expected result".
The fact that Münster can continue to serve is positive for the community.
The financial situation is not suitable for a relatively inexperienced man to run the official business, explained Hösch.
On the part of the Free Voters, their spokesman Bernd Heilmeier was satisfied that "the citizens followed our election recommendation".
"Münster is the right man to manage and implement the important projects."
SPD disappointed
Gertrud Merkert expressed his disappointment for the Eichenau Social Democrats, who had clearly spoken out in favor of Markus Hausberger for a long time.
"I had expected a slightly better result." Nevertheless, she spoke of a respectable success for the Green politician.
Voter turnout low
However, voter turnout fell short of expectations.
Not only that it slipped compared to the first ballot.
At 47.86 percent, it also remained a good one and a half percent below the manageable rate of six years ago.
