Starnberg - The U13 beach volleyball players Jannik Pohlus and Lenny Summerer showed another very strong performance last Saturday.
At the ASV Dachau facility, the TSV Starnberg team came fifth in the Bavarian Championships.
After the silver medal in the Upper Bavarian title fights, this performance was confirmation of the performance of the boys from Brunnanger.
In the field of 16 teams, the TSV duo, seeded number 13, had to deal with Faber/Nitschke (Donauwörth/Eiselfing) at the start.
However, there was nothing to be gained against the eventual silver medalists.
The 8:15 and 9:15 was quickly forgotten, followed by two victories that brought them into the quarterfinals.
Nerves were called for against Friedrich/Neubauer (Frammersbach): After being 9:14 behind and repelling set balls, the Starnberg team still took the first set 17:15 and followed up with a 15:8.
The round of 16 against Pietrynski/Roediger (Amberg), still seeded fourth, was a close 15:11 and 15:13 thanks to concentrated performance.
In the quarter-finals, the favorites and local heroes Holzapfel/Pechaigner (Dachau) were a size too big.
In the end, a clear 6:15, 5:15 was recorded against the later Bavarian champions.
The final game for fifth place then went the full distance: against number five seeded Bockfeld/Strobel (Herrsching/Lenggries), the TSV duo once again threw all their fighting power into the balance and finally won by a hair’s breadth with 15:13. 12:15 and 10:6 – Happy and exhausted, Pohlus/Summerer sank into the Dachau sand.
Trainer Anthrin Schäfle praised afterwards: "In the important moments, the boys showed their best volleyball and thus got the best out of it again."
