PRACTICAL - Gowwiz, a French application, offers travelers a personalized program to manage sleep time and light exposure so that they arrive at their destination in good shape.

Launched in June 2021, the Gowwiz application aims to help travelers avoid the inconvenience of jet lag.

Created in partnership with the CHU and the Center du Sommeil de Brest, the French start-up offers a sleep and light exposure program to users according to their journey, in order to resynchronize the body more quickly on the place. of arrival.

An algorithm proposing a personalized program taking into account sleep habits, the day of departure, the flight number or even the expected jet lag.

It then indicates the actions to follow: exposure or not to light, nap, bedtime, getting up.

The start-up plans to add the management of meals and that of body temperature (bath, shower).

Accompany the taking of medication at a fixed time

The algorithm proposes a personalized program taking into account sleep habits, the day of departure, the flight number or even the expected jet lag.

Key to resynchronize the body, light acts on the secretion of melatonin, the sleep hormone, and allows to find an alternating sleep/wake cycle of about 24 hours (called the circadian cycle) in phase with the place of 'arrival.

Gowwiz worked with Dr. Cadet, neurologist at the Brest sleep center.

The application has just launched a new feature: supporting users in taking medication at a fixed time.

After a stopover of several hours in three time zones from the departure followed by a second flight crossing several additional time zones, managing the intake of tablets can turn into a nightmare.

The Gowwiz application is available for free on the App Store and the Google Play Store, but should become payable from July 20, at a price of €9.90.
