It's time for something to turn.

The Grünzug-Netzwerk Würmtal (GNW) wants to promote wind power in the forests in the Würmtal.

Citizens should be allowed to participate.

Würmtal

– wind turbines are trendy.

So far there are none in the Würmtal.

That should change.

The Grünzug-Netzwerk Würmtal welcomes such systems in principle - but not unconditionally.

The club has now submitted a paper in which it explains its position in more detail.

Grünzug-Netzwerk Würmtal is in favor of wind turbines and against gravel mining

His focus is currently on forest boxes.

"We don't want an entire wind farm," explains Chairman Herbert Stepp.

He has one to three wind turbines in mind.

There is enough wind for that.

The data from the wind report, which is available for the plants planned nearby along the A 95, can be transferred to Forst Kasten, he says.

The association does away with a possible objection to wind power in Forst Kasten: It has already had a specialist examine whether wind turbines would disrupt the cold air currents towards Munich.

An expert from the company RSC came to the conclusion: "The flow is unhindered." Stepp therefore: "We are actually calmed down." suffering from heat, he explains.

It is important to the association that the wind turbines are built with the help of citizen participation.

And: "We don't want to set up systems ourselves, we just want to steer them in a sensible direction."

There is a reason why the focus of the association is currently on Forst Kasten.

"Our considerations are related to the gravel quarrying planned there," says Stepp.

He wants to prevent this.

"We hope that you don't harvest gravel, but wind power." The owner of the forest, the Heiliggeistspital Foundation, should be able to generate income from wind power in the future.

It is currently at the district office to approve the planned gravel extraction in Forst Kasten.

"If it were to be approved, the federal government for nature conservation would sue," said Stepp.

Munich's district administrator Christoph Göbel now has the position paper of the green corridor network as an alternative concept.

Stepp says, "We advocate deleting priority area VR804."

Wind turbines in the Würmtal are to be built with citizen participation

But Stepp is important: "It's not just a deal against gravel mining, it's also about the fact that we have to make a certain contribution." People have been thinking about it since November.

Now they have gone public, because "the district has to take care of how many wind turbines can be set up".

The Grünzug network is in favor of wind turbines, even if the 10H regulation should be undercut, i.e. the minimum distance between the system and residential buildings is less than 10 times the height of the system.

However, a species protection test is necessary.

And there are other conditions in the paper.

"If projects comply with these conditions, the GNW will support implementation," explains Stepp.

It is based on the fact that no further gravel mining takes place in the Würmtal forests.

"Then the interventions that are unavoidable through the use of wind power and cannot be fully compensated for (disruption of the recreational function, for example) can be accepted."
