Twenty-six people were killed as a result of heavy rains and floods in Uruzgan province, southern Afghanistan, during the past two days.
Xinhua news agency quoted the province's deputy governor, Hikmatullah Mazamel, as saying to local media, "26 people were killed due to heavy rains and floods in Khas, Uruzgan, Chora and Jizab areas of the province. It was badly damaged by the floods.”
It is noteworthy that monsoon rains and floods killed dozens of people in the eastern provinces of Nuristan, Parwan, Paktia, Wardak and Zabul in the past week.
