A blow to Israel: Nine European countries have announced that they will renew funding for organizations that Israel has defined as terrorists.
In Israel Today, it was reported last week that the European Union has also renewed funding for organizations headed by Al-Haq, a Palestinian human rights organization that Defense Minister Bnei Gantz has declared a terrorist organization.
The foreign ministries of Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain have issued a joint statement this evening stating that they intend to renew economic aid to al-Haq, as well as other organizations.
The joint statement said the "accusations of links to terrorism should always be taken seriously", but added: "No material information has been received from Israel that would justify a re-examination of our policy towards the six organizations. If such information is presented, we will act accordingly. "With the cooperation, and strong support, of civil society organizations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories."
Professor Gerald Steinberg, president of the NGO Monitor research institute: "When European governments claim a lack of evidence that their subcontractors are linked to terrorism, they deliberately ignore visible materials that have been presented to them and the public for years.
