On Saturday, the dog "Brutus" disappeared in front of an Edeka, two days later he reappeared.

But the circumstances make the case even more mysterious.

That's what a woman asked herself who had her dog "Brutus" on a leash at an Edeka supermarket in Unna (NRW) while she was shopping.

When she came out, the animal was gone.

She was convinced: "Brutus" was stolen!

Because he has never run away.

The Unna district police authority reported on the case in a press release.

Accordingly, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon (July 9th) at the Edeka branch on Bahnhofsstrasse in Unna.

"Brutus" was therefore only leashed for ten minutes around 1 p.m.

And then suddenly gone.

The police published a photo of "Brutus" along with a description on Monday afternoon (July 11).

It is therefore a brown and white Shih Tzu Maltese mix with a red leash and red collar.

The animal was 13 years old and chipped, it said.

Witnesses were sought.

The good news followed on Thursday morning (July 12): "Brutus" is doing well.

The dog and its 68-year-old owner from Unna are reunited.

But the circumstances make the case even more mysterious.

Because "Brutus" was not found near the Edeka supermarket in Unna.

But in Schwerte an der Ruhr, almost 20 kilometers away.

There, a jogger (68) discovered the dog on Monday afternoon leashed to a tree on the Ruhr.

Eventually, the dog was found just a short time later.

The police suspect that the perpetrators have stolen it "and for whatever reason have repeatedly exposed it," said spokesman Christian Stein.

"A bit mysterious, but I hope that the investigations of our colleagues from the police department will shed some light on this."

It is conceivable that the pressure was too great, especially since the owner began to distribute leaflets on her own.

The good news remains: "Brutus" and mistress are reunited.

An animal shelter is now looking for new owners for two bulldogs.
