Labrador male Fred becomes a loving foster father for helpless ducklings whose mother disappeared overnight.

Stansted (Essex) - After the duck mama didn't come home from one day to the next, the loving 15-year-old Labrador Fred jumps in as a replacement dad and takes good care of the offspring.
For the chicks, the loss of their mother is not without its dangers.
But fortunately there is four-legged Fred.
Enchanting pictures show how much he has taken the little orphans into his heart.
He already proved in 2018 that he masters this role particularly well.

Even then, the dog made headlines with its loving nature.
At that time he took nine abandoned ducklings under his wing.
Today there are proud 15 fluffy bundles of joy.
Fred's master, Jeremy Goldsmith, is hardly surprised.
Because he and his own animals live at Mountfitchet Castle in the English county of Essex.
A site that is now an Art Living History Museum.
It houses rescued animals that people used to keep for the use of the castle.
Nine German Shepherd puppies were also rescued.

Dog grandpa adopts 15 orphaned ducklings - not only he has a father instinct
Jeremy Goldsmith told The Mirror: "In the 15 years that I've owned him Fred has spent a lot of time at the castle with the animals and it has become second nature to be around the various rescued animals.
Fred has a very calm and gentle nature, and the ducklings took an immediate liking to him."
And so the chicks stay with Fred until they are a little older and more independent.
Particularly delightful: Not only the Labrador has developed a paternal instinct.
The family also includes a dachshund named Balu.
However, he has decided on another helpless and motherless animal species.
He takes care of seven newborn kittens.
He cleans and cuddles her every night before it's bedtime.
The helpfulness and touching nature among the animals must be due to the very special place.
