The new edition of the leisure map for the Ebersberg Forest has now been presented.

An additional offer are two cycling tours for families.

District

– There was a lot of excitement about the rediscovered mysterious fountain in the Ebersberg Forest (we reported), in the new leisure map of the Ebersberg Forest, which was presented on Monday, it is noted as well as many other sights.

Heinz Utschig, head of the Wasserburg forestry company responsible for the Ebersberg forest, says that they are currently considering how the historic fountain should be presented to the public in the future.

The site is currently secured.

In September, however, there could be an event there to mark Open Monument Day.

Eighth updated edition

You don't have to wait that long for other sights.

The eighth updated edition of the leisure map offers a comprehensive information base for recreation and leisure activities in the forest.

Diverse forest area

Two circular cycle paths, each 25 kilometers long, which Jochen Hoepner developed, are new.

"These are flat family tours and therefore also suitable for children," says the well-known book author for cycle tours from Baldham.

One of the tours runs in the western part of the forest and leads past the Hollerith oak, among other things.

The second route is more in the center of the forest and has, among other things, the bat house as a station.

According to Hoepner, these routes could be approached from all places around the forest.

Travel times are between four and six hours per circuit.

"You can reach some of the most beautiful spots in the forest there," says Kerstin Mertens (protection association Ebersberger Forst).

And you can also see how diverse the Ebersberg forest area is.

Additional information on points of interest

You can find all the cycling and hiking trails through the forest or the parking lots on the map as starting points for activities.

The map has been updated in many areas, the explanatory text from the forestry companies has been completely revised and new content has been added.

You can find information on mushrooms, wild boar, bats, ants, roe deer or red deer.

Reference is made to heavenly ponds, forest bathing, traces of the Roman road, wild boar feeding shows, Sebastian's column, burial mounds and wildlife sanctuary zones with observation pulpits or nature adventure trails.

Picnic spot information has been updated.

In this context, there are new resting places to discover.

And biotopes created in recent years are also listed.

By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.

Recreation seekers welcome

Forest operations manager Utschig says: “If you are afraid of getting lost in the forest, the map is an indispensable basis for orientation.” However, Utschig also points out that the forest is a commercial forest.

Work is done here during the week.

Visitors should be aware of this.

The card is also a way of directing the flow of visitors.

Those looking for relaxation are of course welcome.

Protection community and federal nature conservation

Both the Ebersberger Forest Protection Association and the Ebersberg district group of the Bund Naturschutz have printed a foreword to the users of the map.

Both sides illuminate the importance of the forest for nature, the environment and people from their perspective.

The current dispute about the planned five wind turbines in the western part of the forest is not excluded in the foreword.

Here is the map

The card, created in cooperation between the state forests and the Neubert publishing house from Poing, has a print run of 10,000.

It is available from the tourist offices, from the companies advertising on the map, the Ebersberg District Office and the Bund Naturschutz office.
