Will Germany crack the 40 degree mark or not?

It can't be said exactly yet, but a weather expert is now focusing on two days.

Wiesbaden – Many people are likely to have been looking forward to warm temperatures and summer, but certainly very few to heat and temperatures above 40 degrees.

Experts have been predicting the great heat for Europe for days, and Germany will also get a decent temperature boost.

The forecasts for the next few days are becoming more and more specific, two days play a particularly important role in the 40-degree forecast.

The weather experts agree that the next few days are likely to be particularly warm.

Diplom meteorologist Dominik Jung, managing director of the weather service Q.met (www.qmet.de), is now considering the fact that Germany could possibly even break the 40 degree mark for the current season, vis-à-vis the weather portal

.

As the expert explains, the heat comes to Germany in two waves.

While the first batch is expected in Germany on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the second batch is expected at the beginning of next week.

But already this week it should be warm, already on Wednesday up to 36 degrees are expected in the west and in the south.

On Thursday there can even be up to 38 degrees towards the Upper Rhine and Breisgau.

For Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the great heat wave will initially subside, Jung expects 24 to 30 degrees in most regions in Germany during this period.

On Monday and Tuesday, the next surge of heat is expected to cover the country, especially over NRW and Rhineland-Palatinate.

According to weather expert Dominik Jung, the 40-degree mark could even be cracked there.

Weather in Germany: Will Germany break the temperature record?

"Whether we will also break the all-time record of 41.2 degrees from 2019 is still open.

On the other hand, midsummer is still long, at least until mid-August.

There could still be a few surprises when it comes to the heat,” Dominik Jung continued.

“If you look at the next 14 days, it looks as if there will be repeated heat surges from south-western Europe and the Sahara.

We always get quite close to the 40 degree mark.

It seems like we're going to have to slowly but surely get used to the number 40 in the weather report," says Jung.

How long the second heat wave will last is unclear.

"It's hard to say today."

Many people may not be aware that the heat can be quite dangerous.

However, as Dominik Jung points out, more people are dying from heat than from other weather events such as floods.

"Heat is more like a 'silent storm' that you don't really 'see'," said the expert in a statement.

In Italy, there is a state of emergency in five regions between Milan, Lake Garda and Venice due to dryness and drought.

What does that mean for vacationers?
