The vegetarian gourmet restaurant Tian in Munich's Frauenstrasse is closing.

The lease expires at the end of the year.

Munich - The renowned gourmet guide Gault & Millau has just awarded the head chef at the Munich Tian, ​​Viktor Gerhardinger, the coveted title of "Rising Star of the Year".

On Monday (July 11), Tian operator and star chef Paul Ivic surprisingly announced the end of the Munich gourmet restaurant, which has also been awarded a Michelin star since 2019.

“We are forced to take this step.

The lease expires at the end of the year," the Austrian cook said on the phone.

This means that there will no longer be a Tian location in Germany from 2023.

Then you can only enjoy Ivic's creations in Vienna.

After almost ten successful years at Munich's Frauenstraße 4, "it will be time for us to move on at the end of the year".

Due to the long-standing partnership with the Derag group of companies, "we respect their desire to offer a uniform gastronomic concept in all hotels," says Paul Ivic.

He adds: "This decision was not easy for us." The Tian in Munich is one of the most successful vegetarian and vegan gourmet restaurants in Germany.

The Munich branch is one of the ten best vegetarian restaurants in the world.

In the future you want to focus on other projects.

During the summer there will be a pop-up in Croatia, among other things, and the "Tian on Ski Holidays in Zürs" will be continued in winter.

More pop-ups are under discussion.

The Ivic team is also developing new cookbooks.
