The government intends to propose an increase in the defense budget of 3 billion euros next year, in accordance with the forecasts included in the military programming law (LPM) 2019-2025.
After increases of 1.7 billion euros per year for three years, the market promised to be high.
The Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, assured that it would be passed to bring the budget to 44 billion euros.
But, more than four months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the geopolitical landscape has changed.
The Head of State, Emmanuel Macron, has requested a review of the LPM.
