The Taliban in Afghanistan this week dug a Toyota Corolla, buried more than 20 years ago, in the country's Zabul province.
It can be said with caution that this is the most famous Toyota in the world, and one that has spiritual-mystical significance for the Taliban.
This Toyota was used by the organization's founder Mullah Omar, in his escape from the attacks of the United States and Western countries, when they invaded Afghanistan with the aim of overthrowing the Taliban rule in the country.
Both the Corolla and Molla Omar survived the attacks.
In 2015, the Afghan government claimed that Omar was assassinated in April 2013 in Pakistan, but did not present unequivocal proof or body.
Now that the Taliban have forcibly taken power again in Afghanistan, the vehicle has been excavated from its grave in order to display it in the capital Kabul, as an expression of the organization's great victory over the West led by the United States.
The corolla finds a grave,
"The vehicle is in very good condition, only its front is a bit damaged," Rahmatula Hamad, director of the Zabul district's information and culture department, told AFP.
"We buried him in 2001 to prevent our loss."
Taliban officials last week released photos from the excavation of the historic vehicle from his grave, gently exposing the Toyota with Eti excavation.
The organization now plans to bring it to Kabbalah and present it as part of a huge monument to the organization's victory over the West.
This Toyota Corolla was used by Mola Omar in his early travels, as the organization grew stronger and became the ruler of Afghanistan, hence the great importance attached by Taliban, a relatively spiritual organization, to their founder's Toyota vehicle.
