An accident on the A3 near Kitzingen claimed around 700 pig lives.
The driver of the livestock truck lost control of his vehicle.

Around 700 piglets died on Tuesday after a pig transporter had an accident on the A3 in Lower Franconia.
According to the police, there were around 900 animals in the truck.
Around 550 died as a result of the accident, around 150 had to be killed after the crash because of their illness.
According to the police, several butchers came and killed the animals.
Animal transporter overturns on A3: the reason is probably medical
According to the police, the truck came off the road near Wiesentheid (Kitzingen district) in the area of a construction site and overturned.
The 34-year-old driver had probably lost control of the animal transporter due to a medical problem.
He and his 42-year-old passenger were injured in the ambulance and rescue helicopter in clinics.
The fire brigade sprayed the surviving animals with water because of the heat.

The construction workers and firefighters prevented the 200 piglets that survived the accident from roaming the freeway.
Because of the heat, the animals were cooled by the fire brigade with extinguishing water.
The pigs were later loaded into a backup vehicle and taken away.
At the beginning of the traffic accident, the A3 in the direction of Nuremberg was completely blocked.
The Würzburg-Biebelried Traffic Police Inspectorate is responsible for investigating how the accident happened.
