Opinion | Dean Munir Rajabi as Dean Alon Kastiel Israel today

2022-07-13T22:50:11.648Z

Munir Rajabi killed 17 Israelis in a terrorist attack on Line 37 in Haifa in 2003 • He will soon be released and return to live in the city • The families of the terrorists want to keep him away from it - and rightly so

We all know the name Alon Kastiel, and what about the name Munir Rajabi?

The first is a sex offender, whose release was recently decided by the Parole Board, and the prosecution has already announced that it will appeal.

At the request of the victims of the crime, it was decided that when he was released he would not be able to live and work in Tel Aviv, where they live.

And Munir Rajabi?

He is a terrorist who was involved in carrying out one of the most horrific attacks during the second intifada, the attack on Line 37 in Haifa.

In an attack that took place in March 2003, 17 Israelis were killed, nine of them boys and girls, who made their way back home from school.

The suicide bomber came from Hebron, and was supported by four other terrorists, three residents of Judea and Samaria and the latter a resident of Haifa.

The three terrorists, residents of Judea and Samaria, were sentenced to 17 life sentences (and released in the Shalit deal), while the Israeli terrorist from Haifa, Rajabi, was sentenced to only one 20-year life sentence, due to a plea deal made with him by the Haifa prosecutor's office.

In his appeal to the Supreme Court, Judge Esther Hayut wrote of him that "the facts indicate that the appellant hates Israelis and Jews."

In a few months, Rajabi's 20 years in prison will be orphaned, and he will return to live in the city of Haifa, free and happy, alongside the families of his victims and next to the victims of the attack, who also live in Haifa.

Together they will shop in the supermarket, together they will walk on the promenade, together they will get on buses.

The same buses that Reggie Regby followed 20 years ago, the same buses that were for his and his friends' murderous purpose.

The terrorist will smile, the families will shrink, the wounded will close.

The person who can prevent him from returning to live in Haifa, according to law, is only Defense Minister Bnei Gantz.

The families of the murdered have submitted a request to Ganz to remove Rajabi from Haifa.

There are similarities between victims of a sex offender offense and families of victims of terrorist attacks, lightly and materially injured.

Both populations suffer from post-trauma, daily suffering and anxiety.

The State of Israel does not deny the terrorist citizenship as it should have, so the least it can do is keep it as far away and restrict it as it can.

The defense minister has not yet responded to the families, the "competent authorities" are investigating.

Despite the early and controversial release of Alon Kastiel, it was decided to remove him from the victims, and that what is more natural than to do the same to the same terrorist?

In the next two years, there will be a wave of releases of Israeli terrorists from the period of the second intifada, the plea bargains and world sentences will end, and the memory will be eroded.

The terrorists alongside the families of the victims.

The law given to Regby will be a symbol of the future.

This can be a reading because it says: The State of Israel does not spit in the face of victims of terrorism, even after decades.

Ron Kerman, Tal's father, Yossi Tzur, Assaf's father, Philip Leitel, Abigail's father, Esther Firstter, Smadar's mother - those who have more power to shout, shout.

After losing their children, they find the forces for further national struggles.

"We are just breathing," said Esther, the mother of the late Smadar, "we are not alive." The least Ganz can do is make it easier for them to breathe.

Were we wrong?
