A new feature from Tik Tok reduces the availability of adult content to young people

The Tik Tok platform for short videos announced its intention to launch a new feature that reduces the availability of videos that deal with accurate topics or are directed at an adult audience for its users of young ages.

Tik Tok said in a statement on its official website, “We are working on creating a new system for classifying content based on the type of topics in terms of their appropriateness with ages, and we will start in the coming weeks to release a first version to avoid making content that includes adult topics available to users under the age of 18.”

"When we identify a video that contains subtle themes or is intended for an adult audience, such as fictional scenes that are too scary or not suitable for young children, it will be classified as adult in order to prevent users under the age of 18 from viewing it," the platform added.
