Miesbach – Snowboarder Annika Morgan, who starts for SC Miesbach, was allowed to sign the Golden Book of the city of Miesbach after her Olympic participation.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics, the world once again marveled at the skills of the athletes from the Miesbach district.

They were received and celebrated in Schliersee back in March.

Snowboarder Annika Morgan was unable to attend the celebration in person.

Mother Birgit gratefully took praise and gifts home with her.

So that the 20-year-old snowboard ace is also celebrated in person, the city of Miesbach invited her to the town hall.

"We agreed, we'll bring them back," said Miesbach's mayor Gerhard Braunmiller at the reception with a wink in the direction of the Miesbach ski club.

This is where the career of the 20-year-old started.

The fact that Annika Morgan, who was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, drives for the SC, is largely due to her family's enthusiasm for sports.

She was actually looking for a club for her brother Ethan that also trains young snowboarders.

Voilà: A short time later, the Morgans were members.

"We were immediately enthusiastic," says the proud mother Birgit Morgan.

For Annika, who competes not only with SC Miesbach but also with WSC Blaues Land, several successes in the European Cup and at the Junior World Championships followed.

There she twice won silver – in 2018 in slopestyle and in 2019 in big air. At the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing she took 8th place in slopestyle.

And what makes the young talent so successful?

"I'm actually always quite relaxed," says the 20-year-old.

In the scene you know each other.

Handling is informal.

“I know the drivers, it's nothing new to me,” summarizes Morgan.

Relaxed, that's how coach Andreas Polke knows her, and also focused and versatile.

It goes without saying that Annika Morgan is an idol for young board fans.

SC Miesbach chairman Malin Friese reports that the youngsters' eyes light up when the 20-year-old is seen on television.

They should have this in the future, because the snowboarding ace is far from thinking about quitting: "I'll do it as long as I feel like it.

I do competitive sports as long as I can physically.”
