Special envoy to Le Touquet
Heat obliges, Sylvie and Michel come almost every day to enjoy the beach of Le Touquet (Pas-de-Calais).
This retired couple discovers the "No smoking" sign, recently installed on the dike.
"
It's a very good idea,
" says Michel.
There are too many cigarette butts in the sand.
Smokers can only blame themselves.”
Since July 9, Le Touquet has been the first beach on the Côte d'Opale to ban smoking.
The mayor of the Pas-de-Calais resort is proud of it:
“Our slogan is 'Nature and elegance',
explains Daniel Fasquelle (LR).
It goes well with “Plage sans tabac”.
We want children to be able to play in the sand without falling on cigarette butts.
It is primarily a question of image.
