Memmingen/Memmingerberg – On Monday, August 29, 2022, at 9 a.m., extensive proceedings against two defendants will begin in session room 132 of the Memmingen Regional Court before the 5th Criminal Chamber as a youth chamber as a jury.
These are 26-year-old German citizen Denis G. and 16-year-old German citizen Angelina A.
The two are accused of having killed 16-year-old Hannah W. in the late afternoon of November 14, 2021, based on a joint plan.
They are said to have arranged to meet her in the area of the entrance to Gate 3.
The accused A. is said to have given the victim gelatin capsules filled with narcotics, which the victim took because she was fooled into thinking that they were vitamin pills.
In the outdoor area of a nearby shelter, the accused A. is said to have hit the victim once on the head with a vodka glass bottle.
After the victim then fell to the ground and was lying on her stomach, the accused is said to have stabbed her several times in the back and in the rear side of the trunk with a knife she had brought with her, which led to Hannah W.'s death within a few minutes.
The accused who are in custody and who have provided information on the matter are therefore accused of joint murder.
Collective murder of 16-year-olds: proceedings take place before the youth chamber
The procedure takes place before the youth chamber, which is responsible because one of the accused is a young person.
This leads to the peculiarity that the procedure is generally public due to the participation of an adult.
However, the court can of course exclude the public from parts of the hearing in cases where the law so provides.
Another peculiarity is that, if convicted of murder, the law provides for life imprisonment for the adult accused, while the maximum sentence for the accused is ten years imprisonment under the applicable juvenile criminal law.
The hearing is expected to last until early December 2022
For the proceedings, to which 93 witnesses and eight experts have been summoned, 31 days of hearings are currently scheduled until December 8, 2022.
