Police hospitalized, garbage cans set on fire, mortars fired: a restless night of July 13 in the Val-de-Marne

The traditional evening of July 14 rhymes with fireworks, but sometimes also mortar fire, burning garbage cans, even vehicles.

In the Val-de-Marne, it is the evening of July 13 which has already occupied firefighters and police: in Champigny-sur-Marne but also Villiers, Sucy-en-Brie, Saint-Mandé, Villejuif... According to our information, about thirty violent events occurred throughout the department.

A policeman, injured in Villejuif, even had to be taken to the hospital.

He was part of a group of officials who was patrolling by car and who was attacked by several people around 12:40 a.m.

Mortars were fired at them.

They then responded with intermediate weapons such as flash balls to restore order.

But "they were again targeted by mortar fire when leaving the scene" and received several projectiles including paving stones", explains the Paris police headquarters.

The windshield of their vehicle was smashed and one of the officials was injured and taken to hospital.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.

The investigation was entrusted to the Kremlin-Bicêtre police station.

In Saint-Mandé, municipal police officers were targeted by mortar fire towards the police station – an arrest took place – without causing any injuries.

Molotov cocktails and cobblestones discovered in Villiers

Shortly after midnight, in Villiers-sur-Marne, a burning car called in the police on Boulevard de Bishop's Stortford, on the border with Seine-Saint-Denis.

Taken to task by a group of about fifteen people, the speakers came under mortar fire.

The firefighters intervened, but under police escort.

On the spot, Molotov cocktails as well as cobblestones were discovered.

Same phenomenon in the neighboring town of Champigny, where two crowds brought in the police, avenue de la République and rue de Verdun, very close to the town hall.

Five people were arrested on avenue de la République following garbage fires.

Rue de Verdun, on the other hand, no fire when the firefighters arrived.

There, four teenagers aged 16 to 17 were arrested.

The east of the department was not spared either since around midnight, other mortar fire was observed in Sucy-en-Brie and La Queue-en-Brie.
