The weather in July shows its extreme side.

One heat wave follows the next.

The latest forecasts for August give little hope.

Stuttgart - We cannot complain about the weather in Germany this year being too cold or too wet.

One or the other peak value could even be reached in July.

In the week of July 18, experts expect heat on a dangerous record course.

The temperatures are climbing closer to the 40 degree mark with each passing day, as

BW24

writes.

Some forecasts even assume that 44 degrees could soon be reached.

Extreme weather is also in store for us in August, says Dominik Jung, qualified meteorologist at

wetter.net

.

What the forecasts predict for this month makes the expert shudder.

Weather in Germany: Heat and drought in July continue

It offers a "card of terror", according to Dominik Jung.

"It's really dramatic, there's no point in trying to dress it up," says the meteorologist, looking at the July forecast.

Because the heat of the past few weeks is taking its toll.

Extreme drought prevails from England to France to Poland.

Popular holiday countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy are also in danger of drying up.

The weather in Germany is currently being hit by heat waves.

Although the situation in Germany is not quite as dramatic as in Western Europe, it is not much better either.

The drought causes low water in the rivers in Baden-Württemberg, for example.

"The scale in terms of drought has really gone over the top," explains Dominik Jung.

In terms of rainfall deviations in July, we are already at the lowest end of the dryness scale of the American NOAA weather model.

Even the weather update for the forthcoming August does not give rise to any hope that the much-needed downpour will fall soon.

The ongoing general weather situation is responsible for this.

One high pressure area follows the next.

Hot air masses flow from the Sahara to France.

Some of these air masses also reach Germany.

The extreme heat could bring Germany a "super meltdown" with up to 44 degrees.

The extreme July weather also extends into August.

Weather expert on the August forecast: "We don't have a heat problem in Germany"

According to the ensemble forecast, the heat and drought will continue until the end of the month.

And exactly here lies the problem.

"August is also supposed to be too dry here in Germany," explains Dominik Jung, explaining the "danger map" of the American weather model NOAA.

This assumes less rain than usual.

"You really have to say clearly: We don't have a heat problem in Germany, we currently have a drought problem.

And plenty of precipitation is still a long way off.”

Many weather models also predict that August will be hotter than average and dry.

The calculated average temperature for the month is 17 to 18 degrees.

So it would be about 1 to 1.5 degrees warmer than average.

With such high temperatures, one can assume that the heat will be discharged through thunderstorms.

Such strong summer thunderstorms are not uncommon in August.

However, the resulting amounts of rain will probably not be sufficient to counteract the drought.
