Its new splendor and as usual every year, the Citadel and Valley Festival, organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Homs Governorate, will launch with a variety of distinctive tourism, cultural, artistic, sports and heritage activities.
The festival, which the people of Homs have been waiting for as an annual social custom, which they have been accustomed to for years, is filled with a series of musical performances by bands and choirs that have a public presence, poetry evenings, and various festivals for scouting teams, exhibitions of traditional professions, painting, sculpture, and honey harvesting.
The festival's sporting events vary, including a bicycle marathon, car drifting, chess tournaments, and a motorbike rally.
Among the societal and tourist activities that the people of the valley are waiting for during the festival are the village wedding, the heritage of the village, popular rural nights, and hygiene campaigns in a number of villages in the valley.
The towns and villages of Wadi Qalatiyah, Hob Namira, Al Muzainah, Marmarita, Kafra, Al Hawash, Al Hosn, Nazareth, Anaz and Al Mashtayeh, with their churches, monasteries, cultural centers, universities, schools, squares, restaurants and sports stadiums, will receive the activities of the festival, which will last for two weeks from the fifteenth to the end of this month.
Regarding the festival and what distinguishes it for this year, the Director of Homs Tourism, King Abbas, explained in a statement to SANA that it aims to promote the artistic, cultural and tourist heritage of the Wadi region, which has a picturesque nature, which makes Syria an important tourist destination, in addition to that the festival is an opportunity to revitalize the economic movement in the region, which is filled with a large number. of expatriates and tourists.
She pointed out that the festival sheds light on the valley area of tourist, archaeological, historical and religious importance, where the ancient fortress of the fort and the religious St. George Monastery lie above its slopes.
