The Penzberger Volksfest 2022 has been cancelled.

The city announced on Thursday.

The reason is not the pandemic, but a lack of staff.

Penzberg - The city of Penzberg announced the cancellation of the Penzberg Volksfest 2022 on Thursday.

The statement states: “Not enough staff is currently the biggest problem, especially in the catering sector.

Never before have so many service staff been missing.

Because during the pandemic years, many workers have reoriented themselves and switched to other industries.”

It goes on to say: “Now this year the Penzberger Wiesn, which traditionally would have started on the last Friday in August, is also affected by the shortage of staff.

The innkeepers had asked Mayor Stefan Korpan to speak to Mayor Stefan Korpan on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Christian Fahrenschon explained that due to the looming shortage of personnel, he does not see himself in a position to carry out the Penzberger Volksfest 2022 properly and in the usual quality.”

Personnel problems because other major events are taking place at the same time

According to the long-standing festival host, the reason for this is that several major events are taking place at the same time (such as the Rosenheim Autumn Festival), which are also desperately looking for staff.

According to the city, this is exacerbating the already precarious personnel situation.

Unfortunately, all efforts on the part of the innkeepers to recruit qualified staff for the Penzberg folk festival have failed

The city in its message: "Together and with a heavy heart, the landlords Christian and Claudia Fahrenschon with Mayor Stefan Korpan have now decided to cancel the popular family festival in 2022 in view of the situation described." And further: "In view of the lack of staff in In the areas of kitchen and service, we have to recognize that today we lack the necessary planning security to hold an event of this magnitude," says the landlord Fahrenschon.

According to the city, reservations already made for the folk festival in Penzberg will of course be reversed according to information from the Fahrenschon host family.
