Is there a dog hater around in Langen (Offenbach district)?

At least these days there are increasing cases of four-legged friends who have died on poisoned baits.

The police advise those affected to report them.

Langen - Basco was the treasure of the family, a great, large-format photo of him adorns a wall in the bedroom.

The Bavarian mountain sweathound was trained to hunt and was regularly out and about in the hunting ground with his owner Peter Embacher. He was excellent at picking up and displaying the tracks of game.

“Basco was such a loving and good dog.

He had heaven on earth with us, was spoiled and loved very much," says Carola Embacher and has to wipe away a few tears, as reported by op-online.de.

Basco is dead. He died miserably from poisoning, which he probably picked up while going for a walk near the former climbing forest in Langen (Offenbach district).

"Some madman is putting out poison bait here.

I don't believe in a targeted attack on Basco.

It's probably a person who hates dogs in general,” Peter Embacher guesses while sitting on a bench with a cozy upholstery that he built himself for his Basco.

Langen: Poisonous baits make families with dogs go through a nightmare

Relatively soon after the walk, the couple noticed that something was wrong with the one-year-old and seven-month-old hound.

"He was drooling heavily and was clearly in pain," reports Embacher.

The couple drives to the nearest veterinary clinic in Egelsbach.

A short time later, Basco already has signs of paralysis and can hardly move.

The vets are doing everything they can to save the young male's life.

He gets many infusions and is treated in the clinic for two days.

At first it looks a little better.

"When we visited him, he was so happy and mobilized everything he could still mobilize.

We then took him home with us," says the dog owner from Langen.

He dropped off his wife and Basco to then run a few errands for the dog.

"When I came home, I had the impression that Basco was just waiting for me.

He then died in my arms.

Oh, what am I saying: He died miserably,” Peter Embacher had to swallow hard.

He has since filed a complaint against an unknown person.

The man from Langen does not believe that the search will be successful quickly, but he wants the police to be aware of all the cases should there really be an accumulation.

He appeals to dog owners to report poisoning or poisoned bait finds.

The Embachers want to warn others, share their story on Facebook in the local and dog groups.

A post is shared 900 times, gets over 100 comments.

Including the note that a poisoned bait was found on the Winkelwiese on the same day and that several other cases of poisoning have become known in Langen in the past few months.

"We just want dog owners to be aware of their four-legged friends - and people who are acting strangely.

It goes so fast and it's such a bad death," says Carola Embacher.

In addition to the four-digit vet bill, it is above all the loss of the dog that bothers the couple.

Dogs from Langen dead from poison bait: "It's better to go to the vet once more"

The warning comes too late for another four-legged friend from Langen.

After Basco, Ice also died of poisoning, as published by his owners on social networks.

He probably picked up the poison in a meadow near the outdoor pool.

The treating veterinarian, Claudia Bauer from Dreieich, says she has also heard of a third dead dog in Langen.

"Poisoning is a bad thing, the dogs suffer a lot," says the specialist.

Especially in times when there are frequent cases of poisoning in a region, dog owners have to pay attention to what the dogs might ingest on the go.

"When in doubt, it's better to go to the vet once more.

In the case of poisoning, time plays an important role.

When a dog comes smacking out of the bushes,

you can make him vomit with a drug.

Blood values also show quickly that it is a matter of poisoning,” explains Bauer, explaining why every minute counts.

Another option is a muzzle against poisoned baits, which prevents the animals from eating anything along the way.

"It's a challenge for the dogs because they can no longer sniff so well.

But of course, when those poisoning stories are acute, it's a way to prevent the four-legged friend from eating anything."

Thomas Leipold, spokesman for the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse, also recommends reporting violations of the Animal Welfare Act – which is very important in Germany: “Putting out poison bait is a criminal offense and absolutely unscrupulous.

We can only investigate if we learn about these cases.” (Nicole Jost)

Again and again, animal enemies in the district of Offenbach put out poisoned bait: For example, at the beginning of the year in Rodgau.
