Two suspects were arrested.

36 gravestones were found broken and shattered this morning (Friday) in the Jewish cemetery in the Haskoui district of Istanbul, the capital of Turkey;
Two suspects were arrested.
The heads of the Jewish community in the country condemned the incident.
"We are confident that the relevant authorities will work to find the perpetrators," they said.
"We will never allow those who attack sacred values and women to sow seeds of conflict and hostility in our society."
The European Jewish Congress expressed solidarity and announced that it stood by the Jewish community in condemning the desecration of dozens of graves.
"This despicable act cannot be taken lightly," he said. "We appreciate that the authorities are working to bring the perpetrators to justice."

In the afternoon, Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soilo announced the arrests and condemned "the heinous attack".
"As a result of a determined effort by our Istanbul police, two of the operatives were arrested," he noted, "the investigation continues."
He read, "We will never allow such provocative attacks by those who try to disrupt our unity and solidarity."
