As the subtropical ridge of high pressure extends westward and will continue to cover southern China over the weekend and next week, the weather will be generally fine and very hot.


According to the nine-day weather forecast, Hong Kong will be extremely hot for nine consecutive days from tomorrow (16th), and it will heat up again next Wednesday (20th) when the DSE results are released. The urban area is expected to be as high as 34 degrees Celsius.

Next Saturday (23rd) will be the "Great Heat" in the 24 solar terms. The Observatory expects that it will be sunny and hot on that day, with the temperature rising to a maximum of 35 degrees, and Sheung Shui and Ta Kwu Ling may even reach 37 degrees. In the hottest summer, citizens should be careful to prevent heat stroke when they are engaged in outdoor activities.

At the same time, however, showers are affecting the northern part of the South China Sea and the coast of Guangdong.

Although the hot weather warning was canceled yesterday (14th), the Observatory issued a special weather warning at 6:45 this morning, stating that the hot weather may affect health, and the public should remain vigilant and add more water.

Local showers on Sunday

The Observatory expects the weather to be hot today with a few showers; sunny for part of the afternoon and mostly cloudy tonight with light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Looking forward to the weekend and next week, the weather will be very hot, but it is expected that there will be showers in some areas tomorrow and Sunday (17th). Citizens should bring rain gear when going out.
