After the death of Jayland Walker in a hail of bullets by police officers, an autopsy found dozens of gunshot wounds.

A total of 46 single or grazing shots were found on the body of the 25-year-old black man at the time of the crime, coroners said in Akron (Ohio).

26 projectiles were found in the body.

These would have caused injuries to the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, left kidney, intestines and several ribs.

The killing of Walker by police officers caused consternation in the United States at the end of June - a good two years after the death of African American George Floyd by a police officer.

Several videos showed the young man being killed after a chase with police.

According to police, he was not armed at the time.

Deadly police operations of a similar nature occur again and again in the United States.

Walker is said to have fired first, according to police

Police said officers wanted to stop Walker for a traffic violation.

This one didn't stop.

During the chase, officers reported that the suspect had fired a shot from the moving car - a handgun and a loaded magazine were later found in the driver's seat.

The man finally continued to flee on foot while wearing a ski mask.

The officers initially tried unsuccessfully to stop him with Tasers.

The suspect stopped in a parking lot and turned to the police.

Then they would shoot.

For several days in a row after Walker's death, hundreds of people rallied on the streets of Akron to demand "Justice for Jayland."

The protests were mostly peaceful.

The case of George Floyd is representative of violence against black people during brutal police operations: In May 2020, the unarmed African American died brutally in a police operation in Minneapolis.

The case led to nationwide protests against police violence and racism.
