The village shop in Schlehdorf was closed for around three weeks after the previous tenants had given notice.

This Saturday (July 16) the local supplier will open again: with new tenants and a new name.

Schlehdorf – Anna and Sebastian Noetzel from Kochel are the new tenants of the Schlehdorf village shop.

Shortly before its reopening this Saturday, July 16, the couple from Kochel have been busy in the past few days, among other things, restocking the empty shelves, holding talks with suppliers and creating a new logo.

Because with the change of tenants, the name of the business also changes.

It will be called "Anna's Dorfladen" in the future - after its boss Anna Noetzel.

Spontaneous decision

Sebastian Noetzel reveals that they decided “spontaneously” that she and her husband would take over the village shop.

“My wife always wanted to have something of her own.

I've made it possible for her now," explains the 39-year-old, making it clear who will be in charge of the Schlehdorf village shop in the future.

Anna Noetzel studied tourism, the hotel industry and marketing, as she says, and most recently worked as an employee in a company.

Now she is looking forward to being able to realize her own ideas in the Schlehdorf village shop.

"And I like contact with people," says the 37-year-old.

They moved to the Loisach Valley about five years ago, says her husband, and were warmly welcomed here.

With the takeover of the village shop, they wanted to give something back to the people here.

Because if the village shop had to close forever because no new tenant could be found, "it would be bad for the local people," says Sebastian Noetzel, referring to the elderly or people without a car, for whom local suppliers are incredibly important.

Sell products “at reasonable prices”.

The couple would like to sell their products “at reasonable prices” and not overpriced, as is often the case with small supermarkets, so that all other people in Schlehdorf also shop locally.

"Especially in today's situation" with high fuel prices and in times of climate change, they wanted to motivate the people of Schlehdorf to shop locally, says Sebastian Noetzel.

The various changes in the previous concept of the local supplier therefore include the gradual extension of the opening times.

For the time being, according to Sebastian Noetzel, the shop will be open from Monday to Saturday from 6.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

From autumn, when an additional full-time employee has been trained, these opening times are to be extended further.

The post will also remain, but it will take some time

Until then, the couple will run the village shop together with the three existing part-time employees and will mainly focus on regional products when it comes to the range of goods.

The cooperation with regional suppliers, which the previous tenant already maintained, will be continued.

The pharmacy from Kochel will also continue to deliver ordered medicines to the village shop.

Sebastian Noetzel promises that parcels, parcels and the like can also be delivered to the store again.

Since the couple has to register with Deutsche Post again, it will take a few more weeks.

For the time being, the couple wants to continue running the village shop in a similar way to its predecessors and then see what customers want.

Even before the opening, Sebastian Noetzel placed flower pots on the asphalt forecourt - so that the cars can no longer race through here, he explains.

The couple also wants to add additional outdoor seating to expand the café area.

One of Anna Noetzel's wishes would also be additional seating at the back.

With a view of the nearby children's playground, she is convinced that this would be the ideal place for parents to have a coffee in peace.

Loading was always a problem child

Mayor Stefan Jocher had already announced at the citizens' meeting in May that the previous tenants would no longer be running the village shop after around four years (we reported).

But even in the years before, the local supplier was always the problem child of the community.

After a death, the shop had been empty for a long time.

In 2017, the municipality found a new tenant from Kochel as the owner, who, however, gave up the shop about a year later due to relocation.

The last tenants - also from Kochel - have now given up the business for personal reasons, says Sebastian Noetzel.

According to reports, however, the shop ended up not making enough money, which is why the tenants gave up.
