US President Joe Biden today (Saturday) signed his visit to the Middle East at the summit in Saudi Arabia with the participation of the leaders of nine Arab countries.
Biden presented at the summit his vision and American strategy for US involvement in the Middle East, said that Washington would remain committed to its allies in the region, and also pushed for the idea of a regional security alliance that would integrate Israel.
Apart from Saudi Arabia, the summit in Jeddah was attended by leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait.
Biden sought to take advantage of the convergence to raise the issue of Israel's integration in the region, as part of a new axis that is driven primarily by common interests and similar fears of threats from Iran.

In a statement, Biden said the United States would remain an active partner in Middle Eastern countries and would not allow Moscow and Beijing to strengthen its foothold in the region.
"We will not leave the Middle East and allow Russia and China to enter a vacuum," the president stressed.
He added that Washington "will not allow the freedom of navigation in the Straits of Hormuz and the Red Sea to be harmed" and noted that "we will work to strengthen the air defenses of the region, reduce tensions and prevent escalation in the region", he
said. "Certainly Israel has significant capabilities when it comes to air and missile defense," a senior government official told reporters.
During the summit, Biden downplayed meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman in the wake of criticism of the country's human rights situation in the country, and focused on meetings with the leaders of the six Gulf states, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq.
