Geretsried – Claudia and Christian Fahrenschon drove to the program presentation for this year's forest summer in Geretsried with a historic Alpenland tractor.
The forest summer takes place from July 29th to August 7th at the Geretsrieder Festplatz on Jahnstrasse.
"We were pleased that the citizens of Geretsried stood by us and attended our festival even during the pandemic," praised Christian Fahrenschon.
The pre-corona state of 2019 will not be fully reached.
Smaller tent and more expensive beers
"Unfortunately, there are still failures in the gastronomy and with the showmen," regretted the festival host.
The tent, which held almost 1,500 visitors three years ago, is now seating for 300 to 500 guests.
There is also a beer garden.
Increased raw material and energy costs have also led to price increases.
This year, visitors have to pay 10.30 euros for a beer delivered by the Herzogliches Brauhaus Tegernsee and 9.80 euros for half a roast chicken.
Forest summer should primarily attract families
Cultural officer Hans Ketelhut, who will provide musical entertainment as Bayern-Hans on the senior afternoon, is still hoping for many visitors.
"The forest summer should specifically appeal to families," he wishes.
In addition to the obligatory chain carousel and bumper cars, the rapid rollover swing "Phoenix" is available.
And if you want to party a little longer, you're sure to find like-minded people at the Maibaumbar on weekends.
"A lot of couples have met there," reveals Claudia Fahrenschon with a wink.
Alpenland tractor leads pageant
Mayor Michael Müller described the forest summer as well as the Alpenland tractor as "Geretsrieder Original".
The 74-year-old agricultural vehicle will lead the procession from the town hall to the fairground on July 29th.
