Hans Söllner got off to a somewhat bumpy start at his concert at the Wartenberger Kultursommer on the Nikolaiberg.

But then the singer-songwriter had the 500 guests on the line pretty quickly.

Wartenberg – "In terms of the message, it has become much more humane and gentler," said Stephan Schwaiger, one of the 500 spectators at the concert by legendary singer-songwriter Hans Söllner on Nikolaiberg in Wartenberg.

Even more than love, the 66-year-old professional rebel told his fans and curious people on Thursday that "staying in love" is even more important - whether with people, chickens or trees.

And despite all the ridicule that Karl Lauterbach received even below the belt, Söllner seems to be very concerned about this message.

So he said goodbye after two hours of the "seminar", as he said himself, with the words: "Go home, look at your injuries and make it up again.

That's the only reason I'm still on the road."

It remains to be seen whether he actually performed the first 20 minutes without a song because of the lower VAT of what was then considered a “musical cabaret”.

After this thoughtful start, with somewhat bumpy changes of subject and still restrained laughter, Söllner warmed up at the latest with anecdotes about his experiences with authorities, the police or the "asshole neighbors", all of which could be provoked very creatively.

He let the audience share in his wealth of ideas, the cheekiness with which the consequences are as harmless as possible can trigger a maximum of confusion and annoyance.

This went hand in hand with one of his original themes, the legalization of marijuana.

He's now prescribed cannabis as a pain reliever, which is why the compost heap is dug up twice a week, he joked.

"He just doesn't change," said Jules Garnier, who had come from Erding to attend the concert in his home town of Wartenberg, at the end of the evening.

Together with his companion Tabea Reibestein he had made himself comfortable on a picnic blanket.

The two have known Söllner since their youth, but both have only now seen him live for the first time.

“Great – the people, the atmosphere.

You were right in the middle of it, it was a very personal appearance," judged Reibestein, adding: "A lot was very political.

Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, they see it the same way themselves.”

The fact that artists and audience were of the same opinion on many topics was shown by intermittent applause, such as the call for a one-year chicken boycott.

"Out there, nothing has to change, except for ourselves," Söllner extended the appeal to avoid meat to general validity - a sentence that you probably wouldn't have heard from him 20 years ago.

After more than 40 years on stage, he no longer only tells what he thinks, but often also what he has experienced.

On the subject of lifelong love, for example: “There are talents.

But I'm not one, I've noticed." Of course, Corona was also a hook, right at the beginning, as a tongue-in-cheek apology for the repertoire that hadn't grown: "If everyone dies anyway, what should I write new stuff about?" Or when he was vaccinating with a dildo -Parties compares: "They can do that - I just don't want to have to participate."

Refuse more, but above all change something, he suggested to his “seminar participants” several times.

"We have to stop this, we are the only species that can change.

If you realize you're making a mistake, then stop it," he said of War and Hatred, but he also took his words to heart when it came to wrong chords.

Buying a house: "How are you supposed to pay for it in one lifetime?"

"It is enough"

Stephan Schwaiger from Wartenberg was "positively surprised at how jolly Söllner seemed" and remembered the past, "when he only scolded and there was no message left".

But a seminar leader should ultimately set a good example and exemplify the required change.
