If you want to hike through the beautiful Pfaffenwinkel, you will find helpful tips in the newly published book "Wandern im Pfaffenwinkel".

26 tours are described in it.

District/Polling – Anton Schuster spent two years writing the book “Wandern im Pfaffenwinkel”.

Now the book, which describes 26 tours, has been published.

"The trigger was the corona pandemic," says Schuster.

Large journeys were not possible because of the restrictions, so he and his wife Johanna rediscovered the Weilheim-Schongau region.

On numerous hikes, they also informed themselves about the special features that they found.

And so the theologian came up with the idea of ​​writing a hiking guide about the Pfaffenwinkel.

Hiking in the Pfaffenwinkel: No hiking guide "like it already exists"

"It shouldn't be a hiking guide like it already exists," says Schuster, who has been chairman of the "Foundation Hospice Association in Pfaffenwinkel" since 2019.

He wanted to publish the book through the foundation and thus "do public relations work for hospice work in a somewhat unorthodox way".

The chairman of the hospice association, Renate Dodell, took part and provided pictures.

For the 30th anniversary of the association, the work has now been presented in Polling Abbey.

"I'm a largely analogue person," says Schuster, who was responsible for further training in the diocese of Augsburg until his retirement.

And so the work was designed as a conventional book, but at the same time offers something for people who cannot live without a smartphone.

In addition to detailed route descriptions, maps and a compilation of the most important data, a QR code is also printed with which additional information can be called up.

The 208-page book measuring 12 by 21 centimeters is richly illustrated.

Dodell, who contributed a large portion of the images, emphasizes that they are real photos and have not been edited.

"They show the Pfaffenwinkel as it is," says the enthusiastic amateur photographer.

The route descriptions are broken up with additional information about special features along the route and private stories from personalities from the Pfaffenwinkel.

Actor Dieter Fischer, patron of the hospice association, also made a contribution.

Everyone who contributed to the content of this hiking guide worked on a voluntary basis, so only the layout and production had to be paid for, as Schuster points out.

A large part of the sales price of 17.95 euros goes to hospice work.

The book is available from the hospice association and in the bookstores “Lesbar” and “Zauberberg” in Weilheim.
