Ricky Martin denies allegations that he was involved in a romantic relationship with his nephew.
In a statement sent to the TODAY show, Martin's attorney, Marty Singer, said: "Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with major mental health issues. Ricky Martin, of course,
has never been, and never will be, involved in any type of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.
"That accusation is not only false, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man receives the help he urgently needs. But, above all, we hope that this terrible case is dismissed as soon as a judge can examine the facts," he continued.

Martin's attorney spoke to TODAY after the rumors began circulating online on Friday.
Singer did not identify Martin's nephew by name and it was not immediately clear if the nephew has legal representation.
Martin's lawyer's statement and the new accusation against him come just a week after a judge in Puerto Rico issued a protection order against the singer.

A police spokesman named Axel Valencia told The Associated Press that
he could not share details about who requested the restraining order
because it was filed under Puerto Rico's domestic violence law.
TODAY has not had access to the order and local police have not responded to our request for comment.
The spokesman told the AP that the restraining order prevents the musician from communicating with the person who requested it, adding that a judge will decide at a hearing whether the order should be lifted.

In a statement shared with TODAY on Sunday, July 3, Martin's representatives said, "The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to the issuance of a protective order are completely false and fabricated. We are confident that when the true facts come to light, light on this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated."
In addition, in his own statement shared on Twitter, Martín added: "
The protection order issued against me is based on completely false allegations,
so I will respond in the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterizes me. As it is a pending legal matter, I cannot comment at this time. I appreciate the countless messages of solidarity and I receive them with all my heart."
According to TMZ, Martin's scheduled court date for the restraining order is set for July 21.
