Today, the internal transport company in Lattakia placed a number of buses that it recently received to operate the new line on the eastern garage axis towards Al-Azhari roundabout through Al-Thawra Highway to serve one of the most important transport hubs within the city, which witnesses daily congestion.
The general manager of the company, Eng. Tariq Issa, told SANA reporter that starting this morning and with the start of the bus movement within the city, the new buses were gradually put into service throughout the week, including 6 buses on the updated line according to the decision of the Joint Traffic and Passenger Transport Committee as a first stage, pointing out that The new line contributes to addressing the congestion on Al-Thawra Street, especially at the Datour and Mazar junction and the rest of the residential neighborhoods surrounding the highway.
Eng. Issa indicated that the frequency of buses' movement was at a rate of one shift every 7 minutes, indicating that work was underway to increase the number of buses on the axis to 9.
He pointed out that the company will also support the hub transportation lines within the city, including the northern sand line, the hospital, with 3 buses, and the port line, the agriculture project, with two buses.
And he indicated that the company continues to serve various lines outside the city towards the countryside, including to Jableh, Qardaha, Fakhoura, Mashqita, Zagrine, Wata al-Khan and other villages and areas that require service by buses from the company to meet the public transport movement.
A number of citizens whom SANA interviewed noted the role of the new bus line in reducing transportation burdens and costs for them, while one of the drivers indicated that the new axis also contributed to addressing daily congestion on two other lines within the city and easing congestion on the eastern garage and Al-Thawra highway.
Lattakia Governorate has recently received 14 new internal transport buses from the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, provided by China to the Syrian people, and has worked during the last period to prepare the work requirements of these buses until they are put into service.
