It's getting hot in the Free State of Bavaria.

The German Weather Service predicts temperatures of up to 38 degrees.

Several experts are already warning of the heat.

Munich - Summer is here - and with full force.

Especially in southern Europe, the heat is so intense that many areas are affected by forest fires.

And that could definitely happen in Bavaria too.

It is not for nothing that observation flights over various forest areas were ordered from time to time due to the high risk of forest fires.

It doesn't look any better for the next few days either.

The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts temperatures above 30 degrees.

This is a burden - for people and nature.

As a result, several experts are already warning to avoid the heat for the most part.

The city of Munich, for example, gives tips for old people and those with previous illnesses in its town hall overview of July 14th.

You should look out for the following symptoms:

  • headache

  • dizziness

  • feeling of exhaustion

  • malaise

  • Muscle aches

  • nervousness

  • confusion

And Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetschek Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) also pointed out the risks of the heat.

“For older people, the hot temperatures can have serious health consequences.

So drink enough and avoid the heat!” advised Holetschek on Saturday.

DWD predicts heat in Bavaria: temperatures up to 38 degrees possible

From Monday (July 18), the German Weather Service expects temperatures of more than 30 degrees in Bavaria, and even up to 38 degrees in some places.

Since the feeling of thirst decreases with age, older people often drink too little or simply forget, the minister warned.

The body needs two to three liters of liquid on hot days.

In the event of symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath or increased body temperature, the ministry recommended immediate measures, and if you were mentally absent or listless, you should call the emergency services.

Experts recommend drinks that are not too hot or too cold and fruit, vegetables and salads that are rich in water.

It is also advisable to protect the apartment from the sun and to avoid the intense midday sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The State Office for Health and Food Safety has further tips on its website.
