The summer is hot. The Observatory issued a hot weather warning today (17th) with a maximum temperature of 34 degrees. As of 12:00 p.m., high temperatures above 33 degrees were recorded in many districts in Hong Kong, 34.6 degrees in Dalong, 33.9 degrees in Ta Kwu Ling, and 33.8 degrees in Peng Chau.
With the subtropical high ridge extending westward, Hong Kong will continue to be extremely hot for the next 9 days. The highest temperature is forecast to reach 35 degrees for 4 consecutive days starting from Friday (22nd), which is the midsummer.

The Observatory said that the high-altitude anticyclone is bringing generally fine weather to southern China. At noon, the temperature in some areas rose to 33 degrees. On the other hand, the southwesterly air current is bringing a few showers to the coast of Guangdong.
The weather in Hong Kong was generally fine in the afternoon, with extremely hot weather and showers in some areas. The southwesterly winds were mild and the offshore winds were occasionally refreshing.

As of 12 noon, high temperatures above 33 degrees were recorded in many districts in Hong Kong, including 34.6 degrees in Dalong, 33.9 degrees in Ta Kwu Ling, 33.8 degrees in Peng Chau, 33.6 degrees in Sheung Shui and Yuen Long, and 33.3 degrees in Wetland Park.

Subtropical ridge of high pressure continues to be sunny and hot
The Observatory predicts the weather for the next nine days. As the subtropical high pressure ridge extends westward and covers southern China from this week to the beginning of next week, the area will continue to be fine and hot.
The southwesterly airstream will bring some showers to the coast of Guangdong in the next day or two.
