A warning strike caused major problems at several airports in Italy on Sunday.

200 flights were completely canceled.

Rome – The airport chaos in Europe has been a big issue for a few weeks.

There is a shortage of staff everywhere.

In Italy, a warning strike was added on Sunday.

Airport chaos in Italy: several flights canceled

Several Italian unions had called for a nearly four-hour walkout on Sunday.

There are disputes between the companies and the unions about workers' rights, working conditions and the payment of minimum wages in the industry.

According to Enav air traffic control, the warning strike should last from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

As a result, numerous flights in Italy were completely canceled on Sunday.

A little over 200 flights were canceled at airports across the country.

Domestic Italian connections were particularly affected, as can be read on the websites of the major airports.

But passengers who wanted to travel from Milan to Frankfurt or Berlin, for example, could not take their flight either.

Connections outside Italy to Paris, Amsterdam, London or Zurich, among others, were canceled at the airports in Rome.

Warning strikes in Italy: Several airlines went on strike

Air traffic control Enav and the airlines Ryanair, Easyjet and Volotea were on strike, according to reports from the trade union federations.

The airlines announced that they had informed affected customers in advance.

The flights in the periods between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. are not affected, Enav said.

Here are some tips on how to avoid delays as a traveler.
