According to the suspicion, the officer who served as a major in a senior position in the IDF Population Administration recruited soldiers from Arab society who could not enlist, among other things, due to a criminal record and being too old.
Along with him, 4 other suspects were arrested for bribery offenses, which were raided by the police.
They will be brought to court for a hearing to extend their detention

An IDF officer was arrested today (Monday) on suspicion of committing bribery offenses and receiving favors.
Along with the officer, four other people were arrested on suspicion of these offenses, all residents of the Lower Galilee.
The officer, who is a major, served in a senior position in the IDF Population Administration, and was entrusted with recruiting soldiers from Arab society with an emphasis on Bedouin, including recruiting soldiers who were not recruited in the first place due to their age, criminal record and more.
According to the suspicion, in exchange for their enlistment, the officer charged them a fee when at the end of their service in the IDF, which was usually for a short period, they enjoyed benefits granted to discharged soldiers as full discharged beneficiaries, for example, land purchase benefits and more.
The investigation raised the suspicion that the money collected by the officer, estimated at tens of thousands of shekels, was laundered through a vehicle-selling business owned by his family.
Five were arrested on suspicion of bribery.

The five suspects were arrested in a joint operation by investigators at Blade 433 and the police, who raided their homes and seized property to be confiscated in favor of the state treasury.
This is an undercover investigation, which lasted several weeks and involved the Assessing Officer of the Haifa and North Income Tax Investigations, as well as the Money Laundering Authority.
