Whether after parking or while driving: These tips will help to get the car a little cooler in summer.

When the summer sun hits the sheet metal of a car, it gets really hot inside the vehicle very quickly.

Hopefully word has gotten around by now that you don't leave people or animals, and preferably no chocolate bars in your parked car (although some contemporaries do it again and again).

The temperatures there easily reach 70 degrees or more.

Reached the end of the scale: In the summer it can get incredibly hot inside the car.

Congratulations to the one who wants to drive now.

But there are a few tips on how to quickly bring the inside of the vehicle to temperatures that may not yet be pleasant, but are at least tolerable – even without air conditioning.

On the one hand, it always takes a few minutes for technology to beat the heat.

On the other hand, some stylish youngtimers do not have artificial cooling at all.

Cooling the car in the summer heat: Special case electric car

In addition, some electric car drivers worry about the remaining range when the automatic air conditioning system drains the battery (although some electric cars actually have a big advantage in summer, and there is now even a pet mode)

This is how you (also) fight the heat without air conditioning:

  • Park sensibly: If possible, parking

the car in the shade, taking into account the later position of the sun, or protecting the windscreen with a film is now part of the general knowledge of most drivers anyway.

  • Wave the doors:

Yes, it works – opening all the doors and swinging one of them open and open several times quickly accelerates the ventilation and thus the exchange of hot inside air for fresher ones from outside.

  • Open the windows when driving off:

If you are driving without air conditioning, you will benefit from the draft anyway.

After all, there is no cooler air inside that needs to be conserved from the outside heat.

But even with the air conditioning switched on, airstream ventilation is beneficial.

At least for the first few meters after parking, until the hot air has evaporated a bit.

  • Place an ice- cold cloth over the ventilation:

With fabric that has been cooled in the freezer, you can practically tinker your own air conditioning system.

If it is placed over the ventilation slots, it provides a bit of freshness in the interior.

However, the textile should be as light as possible - and of course you can only use this trick if you had access to a refrigerator before setting off (e.g. at home),

Of course you can't get your car really cold with these tricks.

But you are guaranteed to be healthier on the go than if you set the air conditioning to 18 degrees and let the icy air blow over you.

In any case, you should also heed a few tips on how to use them correctly.
