Summary.
Omicron wave this winter, sixth wave of contamination in March and now a seventh wave of Covid-19 in the heart of summer... Will these epidemic outbreaks stop one day?
A wishful thinking, according to some specialists, because the virus becomes each time more and more contagious by dint of mutating.
But vaccination and milder symptoms keep hospitals from being overwhelmed with severe cases.
The authorities are therefore looking for the right cursor to allow the French to live with this trivialized pandemic.
On May 16, the government lifted one of the last health restrictions still in force: wearing a mask is no longer compulsory in transport, only recommended.
And at the beginning of July, despite nearly 200,000 positive cases on average each day, the timetable for bringing the country out of the state of health emergency at the end of the month was maintained.
Code source takes stock today with two journalists who cover this pandemic at Le Parisien: Elsa Mari, health specialist in the society department, and Nicolas Berrod, from the news department.
