An extreme heat wave is hitting today (Monday) in continental Europe and residents from Britain to Greece are suffering from unusually high temperatures and a wave of devastating fires that have consumed tens of thousands of acres of natural woodland, villages and towns.
In the UK, record temperatures were recorded in the south-east of England and hundreds of residents were evacuated for medical treatment due to the severe heat.
David Mills, a resident of Nottingham, told Israel Today: "I never remember such a thing. We are completely unprepared for the situation. No one has an air conditioner, even in public places many times there is no proper cooling. The elderly suffer greatly."

"I'm stuck at home and not going out because of the heat. In the middle of the night it was 27 degrees and I can't sleep. It reminds me of my visit to Israel in August. Every kit has a few hot days, but something like a heat wave is just not something we've experienced here before." , Says Mills.
In France, too, the heat wave is hitting mercilessly in most parts of the country.
Rotem Bar, an Israeli living in the Dordogne region in the southwest of the country, near the Girond area where huge forest fires have consumed tens of thousands of dunams of pine forests, tells Israel Today about the difficult experience.
"The heat just turned us off. We are hosting family members here and we took them for a walk in the supermarket to avoid the heat. We are the few who foresaw global warming and bought an air conditioner, so almost all the neighbors find reasons to come visit. I am celebrating my sixtieth birthday today "Nowhere is the situation really dangerous for older people," says the Israeli.
"Today is the hottest day in this wave. In the Bordeaux area, which is almost 47 degrees. Here in Dordogne it is already 40 degrees and the hand is still tilted. In the forests of La Land, the largest pine forest in Europe, a fire is raging that has already consumed over 100,000 dunams. .
