Now the hot weather is spilling over to Germany, and temperatures are also rising in Munich.

Extremely high temperatures are expected throughout Germany this week, especially in parts of North Rhine-Westphalia the thermometer could crack 40 degrees.

Spain, Portugal and Italy in particular are currently suffering from extreme temperatures.
A number of forest fires keep emergency services busy, hectares of land fall victim to the flames.
Due to the little rainfall, the landscapes have dried up almost everywhere, which has the effect of accelerating the fire.
Also in England, for the first time in history, "red alert" was declared due to high temperatures (around 40 degrees on the north coast).

Heat wave sweeps across the country
So far Germany has been spared extreme weather events this summer, with the exception of a persistent drought problem.
But now the heat is spilling over into the country, in parts of North Rhine-Westphalia meteorologists are not ruling out the 40 degree mark.
Breisgau is also likely to be one of the hottest regions in the republic.

, the highest temperatures are to be registered in Munich and the region on Wednesday.
Almost 35 degrees should be possible in the state capital.
At night, too, it will be significantly warmer than last, at almost 20 degrees.
Temperatures should only drop back into more bearable spheres around next Thursday.
However, older and vulnerable groups in particular should make sure they drink enough water in the coming days and avoid the hot hours of the day outdoors.
