Three people were killed and three others injured when a person opened fire at a shopping mall in the US state of Indiana, nearly two weeks after seven people were killed and 30 others wounded when a gunman opened fire during a festive parade in a Chicago suburb.
"We witnessed heavy shooting last night at Greenwood Park Mall and so far we have counted three dead and three injured," Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers said in a statement today, noting that the shooter was shot dead by an armed person.
The attack is the latest in a series of armed violence in the United States, where the use of firearms kills about 40,000 people a year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
