Germany is in the middle of the gas crisis and politicians are encouraging citizens to save energy.
But there will still be celebrations.
How much energy does the Cannstatter Volksfest actually use?
Stuttgart - For two years there was a yawning emptiness on the fairground in Stuttgart's Neckarpark during the Wasen period.
At the end of September 2022, the event will return despite Corona.
Preparations are already in full swing.
Many are probably wondering: How does the festival go together with rising energy prices - especially now that politicians have already asked citizens to save?
"This year there will be a somewhat smaller folk festival than usual, since the main agricultural festival is taking place at the same time on the Cannstatter Wasen," Jörg Klopfer from the event company

told

.
Concrete figures for forthcoming energy costs are not yet available for this year.
A look at the costs for 2018 shows that what is accumulated within two weeks in a normal Wasen year is not insignificant.
Cannstatter Volksfest as an energy guzzler: Annual consumption of 700 two-person households
According to statistics from
in.Stuttgart
(2018), the energy consumption for the Wasen is 1.5 million kilowatts per hour in two weeks.
This corresponds to the average annual consumption of almost 700 two-person households.
The water consumption is also considerable: around 37,000 cubic meters of water (including the main agricultural festival) flowed here.
That corresponds to around 290,450 filled bathtubs.
Many people are annoyed that politicians like Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) give citizens energy-saving tips.
The fact that festivities such as the Cannstatter Wasen consume a lot of energy does not fit some people.
A woman from Munich was also shocked by the energy consumption of the Munich Wiesn: "We should all save, but nobody thinks that the Oktoberfest has a huge energy requirement ,
" she told

Enormous energy consumption at the Cannstatter Wasen and the Munich Wiesn
It's easy to explain why the Wasen and Wiesn are such power guzzlers.
Marquees require an immense amount of gas and electricity.
There are also rides that need to be lit and powered, and lots of food stalls.
How much energy will be used for this year's Cannstatter Volksfest is still in the stars.
Concrete figures, data and facts about the number of showmen, the size of the space used and the logistics will soon be published by
