The Director of Public Revenues at the Ministry of Finance, Anas Ali, confirmed that treasury bonds were allowed to be traded in the Damascus Securities Exchange, which will be offered starting from the next auction to be held on 8-8-2022 to subscribe to treasury bonds.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Ali explained that the ministry has taken a set of new procedures and mechanisms that allow the trading of treasury bonds in the Damascus Securities Exchange by individuals, whether they are ordinary or legal persons, through financial brokerage companies, starting from the next auction to subscribe for treasury bonds next August.
Ali pointed out that a meeting was held yesterday with representatives of the Board of Commissioners of the Securities and Financial Markets Authority, the Directorate of Financial Brokerage Services in the Damascus Securities Exchange, the Directorate of Public Debt and Government Securities at the Central Bank of Syria, and a number of stakeholders, during which the new mechanisms and procedures that allow companies to Brokerage The trading of treasury bonds in the market, either by itself or through mediation on behalf of its clients, whether ordinary or legal persons, and allowing them to directly subscribe in the primary market on treasury bond auctions.
Ali indicated that during the meeting, the mechanism for determining the interest rate for each treasury bond was explained after the bids submitted in the auction were opened and arranged in ascending order according to the interest rate required of the bidders and the mechanism required from brokerage firms to allow them to participate in and trade treasury bond auctions and the importance of these bonds to brokerage firms and their clients.
